Synopsis
Having squandered his money on vamp Lola Monroe, Robert Lathrop pleads with his wife Mary to intercede in obtaining a loan for him from steel king Nicholas Eyre, her late father's friend. After obtaining a check from Eyre, Lathrop hurries to Lola's apartment where he finds her in the arms of her lover. In the ensuing fight, Lathrop is shot and killed, and his body disposed of in such a way as to make it appear that he has committed suicide. Mary, believing that Eyre has refused Lathrop the money and is therefore responsible for his death, plots revenge. Obtaining a position as Eyre's secretary, Mary becomes affiliated with a band of anarchists, headed by Professor Groesbeck. She then begins to spread dissension among Eyre's employees, and Lola, who has failed in her attempts to ensnare Eyre, taunts the factory owner with Mary's betrayal. Hastening to the mill where the strikers are about to wreck the plant, Eyre addresses the men and convinces them that they are mistaken. After Groesbeck meets an untimely death in the metal cauldron, Mary finds the check which Eyre had given to her husband and, realizing her misconception, finds happiness with the steel king.
