Synopsis
Dorothy Ryan, traveling steerage to a tropical island to marry Cooper, a man to whom she has become engaged through a matrimonial agency, assumes the identity of wealthy Jane Norris, a young woman who appears to be dying from smallpox. Arriving on the island, Dorothy slights Cooper and goes to live with Colonel Rice, falling in love with his son, John. Jane Norris, fully recovered, appears, and Dorothy is exposed as a fraud. Dorothy then wanders distractedly into the jungle and is captured by the natives, who make plans to burn her alive. Though Cooper rescues her, John kills Cooper in a fight. John and Dorothy declare their renewed love for each other.
