Synopsis

Diane Sorel, the toast of the Paris stage, is driven to America by the scandal created when Andrew De Clermont, one of her admirers, commits suicide in her apartment. Requiring a period of solitude before making her debut on the New York stage, Diane rents a house in the country where she meets and falls in love with her neighbor, Malcolm Kent, a writer. When Diane discovers that Kent is the brother of De Clermont's widow, she recounts the scandal that drove her from Paris and Kent repudiates her. Their relationship is restored when Kent's sister, Madame De Clermont, arrives from Paris and declares that Diane was guiltless in her husband's suicide.
