Synopsis

Amidst the mountains of Argentina, Doris Forbes, wife of a wealthy American, seeks her lover, Gil Martin, a supposed friend of her husband's, while Hartley, her husband, is loved by Consuelo, a native girl. The father of two Argentine girls is killed by Martin, and Anita, the elder of the daughters, seeks revenge. After the wreck of a steamer bound for the United States, on which she is a stowaway, Anita saves Hartley from drowning in a storm. She later comes to love him, though she is unaware of his identity. In his home, she discovers a picture of his wife, remembers her as the wife of her father's murderer, and suspects that her sweetheart murdered her father. She renounces love for revenge, but her attempt to kill him is frustrated; at length, she learns her error, and the real culprit is exposed.
