Synopsis

Two men fall in love with Laura Gubbins when she becomes a notorious overnight sensation after posing for an artist's sculpture of Sapho. Although one of the men, John Drummond, has a wife, Laura is intent on ruining his marriage until she meets his daughter and decides, for her sake, to end the relationship. Then, just as her second suitor is about to propose, he hears rumors that Laura, who really had been only an innocent bystander, was responsible for the murder of his father, and so he ends his affair with her. Laura then returns to the artist, who had always loved her, but she finds that he committed suicide when he believed that he had lost her. Feeling that she has ruined her own life and the lives of several others, Laura goes insane and dies in the artist's studio, with her body slowly dissolving into the statue of Sapho.
