Synopsis

On the eve of the marriage of her daughter, Alita, Mrs. Allen, unhappily married for 25 years, advocates writer Fannie Hurst's widely publicized mode of living with her husband: only two breakfasts a week together and complete freedom otherwise. Alita marries John Campbell on condition that she enjoy similar independence, but after a few weeks the idea begins to pall. Her husband's willingness to continue the arrangement infuriates her. She is about to elope with Arthur James, a "boob-admirer," when Campbell asserts himself, beats up the rival, and takes charge of his wife, who is overjoyed to lead a conventional life.
