Synopsis
Upon the death of his millionaire father, Arnold Baird finds himself with a seven passenger automobile and one hundred dollars as his sole assets. The loss of his father's fortune precipitates the loss of his fiancée Ruth when her father, James Bennett, general manager of the Consolidated Trolley Company, breaks the engagement. Mrs. Bennett then decides that Ruth shall marry Henry Mott-Smith, a wealthy society man and controller of the trolley company. Secure in Ruth's affections, Arnold begins to earn his living by running a jitney bus, a timely decision when the labor party, headed by Israel Heimstone, calls a strike against the trolley company. Arnold, with the aid of his friends, organizes the Social Rapid Transit Company and their jitney buses meet with huge success. Now in a position of power, Arnold forces Bennett to meet his terms, and becomes the assistant general manager of the trolley company with Ruth as his bride.
