Synopsis

Anson kills his wife when he discovers that she has been having an affair with Randall, and then spends all of his time caring for his daughter Ethel and planning revenge. As a result, when he learns that Mendell, Randall's friend, is interested in Randall's wife, he does his best to encourage the affair. Mendell also has an interest in Ethel, however, and kidnaps her in order to seduce her. Anson hears of the abduction and, thinking that the woman is Mrs. Randall, devises a plan in which she is drugged and then taken to a cottage with Mendell, after which Randall is notified of the liaison. Instead of avenging himself on Randall, though, Anson has really caused the ruin of his own daughter, since it is she and not Mrs. Randall who is discovered in the cottage with Mendell.
