Synopsis
Mike Kildare, a swaggering youth from New York City's Bowery at the turn of the century, loves Mamie Rose, a mender in a secondhand clothing shop. Mamie is fascinated by Kildare's brute strength, but she is also attracted to a kind and gentle Jewish boy. Kildare's gang, which he forsakes to prove his love to Mamie, waylays and beats Kildare in an underground den. He takes the severe punishment, reforms, wins Mamie, and joins the police force.
