Synopsis

While escaping Russia during the Revolution, John Briggs, an Englishman employed as a chauffeur to a nobleman, discovers a diary on the dead body of an officer identified as Alexis Triona. The diary describes the man's thrilling exploits among the Bolshevists. Briggs returns to England, continues to work as a chauffeur, and writes stories in his spare time. Following the rejection by publishers of his manuscripts, Briggs uses the stories in Triona's diary, and suddenly he becomes famous. Posing as Triona, he weds Olivia Gale, a beautiful heiress. Eventually, his wife learns his true identity and leaves him. Years later they are reunited.
