Synopsis

Stephen Adams, a modern Robin Hood, meets Decima Duress on a ship bound for America. Decima, the ward of grocery store tycoon Stephen Janissary, entreats Adams to steal money from her guardian so that she may fund a model housing project. Falling in love with Decima, Adams swears to reform and then enlists his fellow thieves to help commit a final crime. The housing project's future rests on the outcome of an ordinance vote, winnable only with the cooperation of one Alderman McKenna. Adams learns through Decima that Janissary has incriminating papers against McKenna and so decides to steal them to ensure the vote. However, one of Adams' men, Balthazar Van Tromp, a ruined business rival of Janissary, reveals that he, in an act of revenge, kidnapped Janissary's son, also known as Stephen Adams, and raised him as a thief. When Adams is caught robbing the papers, Van Tromp wants to humiliate Janissary further by turning Adams over to the police, but Decima foils the retribution and unites the father and son for a happy conclusion.
