Synopsis
Frank Taylor, a Canadian wheat farmer, works on the farm of Ed Marsh, so as to sustain the loss of his own crop. Marsh's sister, Nora, who has lost her wealth in England, comes to make her home with them, and from the moment that Frank meets her at the station, she treats him like a hired man and incurs his cordial dislike. Nora soon clashes with Gertie, Ed's ex-waitress wife, but swallows her distaste for surrounding crudities and tries to be useful. Soon she is forced to remain an unwelcome guest, and learning that Frank needs a wife, she offers herself. At his farm, Frank concentrates on his effort to raise a new crop, and Nora's bitterness gradually turns to secret respect; at harvesting time, he promises to send her back to England, if successful. Then a raging storm ravages Frank's wheat; Nora prepares to leave on her own money, but as time for parting nears, Frank's reserve breaks and they are happily united in spite of the tragedy.
