Synopsis
Violet Kruger, mistreated by Jed Keith, a bootlegger, and Ben Kruger, a cruel guardian, is rescued, adopted, and sent to a girls' boarding school on the Hudson River. She falls in love with Allen Grey, a student at West Point. Their romance is temporarily threatened by Keith, the bootlegger, whose attempts to claim Violet for himself meet with failure. Finally, Kruger, the guardian, reveals before he dies that Violet is really the daughter of socially prominent and wealthy parents, who lost her to a Gypsy when she was only a child.
