Synopsis

In London Betty Overton meets Hubert Richmond, who returns a slipper she lost in a stream, and they fall in love. Betty's uncle, Mark Lawton, is ruined in a financial panic but is extricated by her admirer, Agar, whom she consents to marry. To eliminate his rival, Agar assigns Richmond to a position in South Africa, but when Betty realizes there would be no love in their marriage, Agar relinquishes her to Richmond.
