Synopsis

Having stayed out all night once too often, Jimmy King, the profligate son of a wealthy father, is sent west in an effort to cure him of his dissolute ways. Before he arrives at his destination, the Flying W Ranch, he is bullied by Bud Osborne and some of the hands from the Flying W. Once at the ranch, Jimmy falls in love with Poppy Saunders, the rancher's beautiful daughter. Jimmy is later forced into a fight with Buck Lowry, a tough cowhand who considers Poppy his girl. Hearing Osborne and the other cowhands plotting to steal the Flying W cattle, Jimmy alerts the sheriff but is discovered by Osborne and tied up. Osborne then kidnaps Poppy, hiding her in the closet of a house believed to be haunted. Jimmy frees himself and rides to the "haunted house," where he stumbles into a sheet hanging on the clothesline and scares off most of the cowboys, who think he is a ghost. Jimmy gets into a fight with Osborne, who has alone remained behind, and, during the struggle, they knock over a lantern, starting a fire. Poppy is rescued by her horse, Jimmy finally whips Osborne, and the sheriff arrests the frightened cowboys. The following morning, Jimmy is told that Poppy has deserted him, and he returns to New York, only to find her waiting for him there.
