Synopsis

After libertine "Broadway Al" Campbell sees college girl Mary Kane do a Grecian dance during commencement ceremonies, he tries to seduce her but is repulsed. He then has her invited to a midnight Roman feast where he attempts to shine an X-ray through her light dance costume to embarrass her. She locks herself in a dressing room to avoid him, and he has a heart attack as he chases her. On his deathbed, Campbell makes out a will leaving one dollar to his son and the rest of his fortune to "his little sweetheart" Mary, to disgrace her. Although she refuses the money when he dies, her friends and father shun her. She takes a new name and goes West where she falls in love with a man whom she later discovers is Campbell's son. When she confesses her identity, the son, after almost rejecting her, accepts her as she convinces him of her innocence.
