Synopsis

Tired of a dull job and an even duller fiancé, Mary Hale flirts with Gordon Kent, a rich philanderer, and loses her job. Quarreling with her father, Mary leaves home, and Kent lets her stay in his apartment, arranging to sleep at his club. Greta Verlaine, an actress and formerly Kent's mistress, visits Kent's apartment and throws Mary out. Mary's distraught father traces her to Kent's apartment, goes there, and shoots Greta, whom he mistakes for his erring daughter. Kent initially takes the blame for the murder, but Mary's father comes forward and confesses. Kent spends his entire fortune in Hale's defense and wins an acquittal. Mary and Kent are married, and Kent settles down to work for a living.
