Synopsis
Aspiring Broadway actress Ruth Montaigne refuses to submit to a philandering backer in return for stardom, but she does agree to marry him at the end of a year. In Havana she meets an upstanding Englishman, Edward Edinburg, to whom she is attracted, and when left alone on a small boat they are married by the captain of their ship. The backer and a jealous showgirl try to frame the couple, with scandalous circumstances regarding the marriage, but the situation is resolved satisfactorily for all parties.
