Synopsis

George Washington Cohen, who is as honest as the day is long, finds a wallet thick with money and returns it to its owner, John Gorman, a wealthy Wall Street banker. Gorman is so impressed with George that he gives him a well-paying job as his private secretary. George soon discovers that Mrs. Gorman is having an affair with Connolly, and impulsively tells Gorman of his wife's infidelity. Gorman sues for divorce, and George is the chief witness; on the stand, George has a change of heart and deliberately perjures himself in order to keep the Gormans together for the sake of their child. Sentenced to jail, George is content in the knowledge that he has won for himself the love of Gorman's penniless ward, Marian.
