Synopsis
The play Futz is being performed by New York's Cafe La Mama Repertory Company before a small rural audience in an open field. Cyprus Futz, a young farmer, is in love with his pig, Amanda, and rejects the advances of plump Marjorie Satz and persuades her to have sex with the pig. One day, when Futz is in the barn with his pig, he is seen by Oscar Loop, a mentally unbalanced youth with an Oedipus complex; and Loop, sexually aroused by what he has viewed, rapes and murders Ann Fox. Meanwhile, Marjorie and her family have told the townspeople of Futz's unnatural relationship with his pig, and when, after his arrest, Loop tells the townspeople the reasons for his crime, they hang Futz and slaughter his pig, after first having lynched Loop. At the close, the townspeople burn down the farm and wallow in the pig's blood. [Press material mentions scenes of nudity, masturbation, incest, transvestism, homosexuality, exhibitionism, and group sex.]
