Filmed 1964-69 in New York City, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York State, Texas, etc. Released as a work in progress. Subsequently distributed in four parts entitled: Walden: Reel One; Walden, Reel Two; Walden, Reel Three; Walden, Reel Four. Film's soundtrack contains subway noises, street noises, a variety of musical selections, Mekas playing and singing, and readings from Walden, the works of Saint John of the Cross, and a text on Julian Beck and Judith Malina.
