Synopsis
Diane recalls the events that have placed her behind bars: Returning home from school, she finds her mother in bed with a sailor and successfully competes for his attention. To smooth things over, she visits the club where her mother works as a waitress and meets Rocky Adams, an agent who encourages her to become a stripper. Her mother turns her out, and Diane goes to stay the night with Barbara, who tries unsuccessfully to lead her into a lesbian relationship. She moves into Rocky's hotel where a peeping tom watches her strip through a window, and the hotel porter joins her in the shower. To further her career, Rocky takes her to a VIP party where a female impersonator performs a belly dance. The Plum Girl is heaped with fruit, and the Peacock Girl is auctioned for the weekend to the highest bidder. In return for his help, Rocky demands that Diane scrub his back. Her stripping career well established, Diane hires a muscleman as a servant. She falls in love with gangster Buddy Saxon, who rapes her on their first night out; as a result, Barbara gives her a gun for protection. Diane takes a job in a "Beauty and the Beast" dance act with Harry the Ape, a live gorilla. Buddy arrives on the scene, and Diane wildly shoots at him. She misses, but she decides that she has had enough of human company and joins Harry in his cage.
