Synopsis

Wealthy widow Maida Brown entertains airplane manufacturer Louis Letchworth at her Bayport home. Their extremely affectionate behavior, which the maid describes to her father, the head of the Purity League, so outrages the local citizens that they force Maida to leave town. Knowing that his brother's estate will revert to him in the event of Maida's remarriage, Harold Brown, Maida's brother-in-law, spies on her and finally demands an explanation. When Maida denies that Louis is her husband, Harold begins proceedings to obtain custody of her son, Gordon. Unable to bear the loss of her boy, Maida confesses that she and Louis were secretly married in Belgium. Although Maida loses her inheritance, a $100,000 investment she had made in Louis' firm pays handsome dividends. After returning the money to Harold, Maida and Louis begin their public life as man and wife.
