Synopsis

When Peter Graham becomes a Supreme Court Justice he is visited by Olive Martin, a singer from New Orleans with whom he had a youthful affair. For years he has been sending money to maintain her silence and to support their son. Olive now wants Peter to divorce his wife and marry her so she can become a society figure. In Boston, unknown to them, Olive's son Harold, a reporter, and Peter's daughter Anita, a student, become engaged and leave to tell their parents. After they find out that they have the same father, Anita and Harold are in despair until Olive's dissolute brother-in-law Thomas Donald goes to Peter's house just as Peter is about to commit suicide, and proves that he is Harold's father and that Olive had adopted the boy to be able to blackmail Peter. Harold and Anita marry, while Peter confesses to his wife and Olive leaves town.
