Synopsis

Bully Brand, a notorious Singapore smuggler, refuses to sell a wonderful pearl, coveted by Chinese merchant Chan Chang for the necklace of his adopted white daughter, Pain. Brand's son, Warren Bradford, who believes that Brand is merely his guardian, returns from college and falls in love with Pain. Learning of the necklace, he persuades his father to give him the pearl, which he presents to Pain. Recognizing the pearl, Chang angrily believes that Brand has wronged her and demands that Brand marry her under penalty of death. Brand attempts to escape, and Warren, ignorant of the bridegroom's identity, tries to prevent the ceremony. Chang, seeking double revenge, plays one against the other. Following a fight in the darkened wedding room, Brand discovers his assailant's identity, brings Chang to account, and arranges the marriage of Warren and Pain.
