Synopsis
Frank Clayton, a successful New York publisher, his wife Elinor, and their seven-year-old son Dick, visit Paris. Art critic Benjamin De Lota, who becomes a contributor to Clayton's magazine, introduces Frank to Mimi Chardenet, an artist's model, and they have an affair. While walking with Mimi, Frank encounters Elinor, and introduces Mimi as a newly engaged contributor to his journal. In New York, however, Elinor learns of the affair and embittered, flirts with De Lota. Frank, learning that De Lota and Elinor were once sweethearts and that Elinor's father rejected De Lota's suit because he is Jewish, questions his wife's fidelity and the paternity of his son. Piqued, Elinor visits De Lota's apartment, where Frank sees De Lota attempt to embrace her. Dissuaded by his father-in-law from killing De Lota, Frank initiates divorce proceedings. Elinor and Dick take refuge with Dr. Seelig, a Jewish physician, who uses his religious bond to learn from De Lota that he was imprisoned for two years prior to Dick's birth. Now assured of his wife's fidelity, Frank reconciles with Elinor.

Notes
This film, shot at the Biograph studios, was the first Four Star Picture. Mlle. Elaine Amazar, a French grand opera singer, made her American motion picture debut in this picture. Some reviews state that Baby Ivy Ward, using the name "Bobby Ward," played the role of Dick Clayton.
