Synopsis

Philip steals cash and jewels from a luxury yacht, sidesteps his accomplice, Kurt, and absconds with the loot to a sparsely populated island. There he meets Maria, the hostess of a rundown cantina, who has an innocent friendship with a mute named Paco. Philip tries in vain to seduce Maria, but she continues to refuse his offers of golden jewelry. Kurt arrives on the island intending to take revenge on his partner, but he is killed by Philip, who leaves the body for Maria and Paco to bury. Finally, Philip proposes marriage to Maria and she accepts. The morning after the wedding, however, Philip deserts his bride, and Maria returns to Paco for comfort.
