Synopsis

Dan Foster, a conscientious railroad engineer who supports his widowed sister and three small children, meets Jeanne Harmon, a girl of class and wealth, when she races his train and is slightly injured in a collision. Realizing their mutual love, Jeanne breaks her engagement to socialite Sheldon Truesdell, though Dan has neither the money nor position to support her. Persuaded to break off the relationship by her mother, Dan feigns drunkenness at a party, and in disgust Jeanne accepts Truesdell but regrets her marriage when again she sees Dan, who drives the train on her honeymoon trip. Dan, however, rescues Jeanne when robbers attack the train and risks his life attempting to save Truesdell, who is mortally wounded. Dan's valor wins him a promotion and the love of Jeanne, with whom he is united.
