Synopsis

Adrienne Le Blanc, a Swiss songstress who entertains Alpine travelers in her parent's inn, is courted by Carrington O'Connell, a young American traveling with an English social advisor to acquire polish. After Adrienne falls in love with Carrington, his advisor cautions against such a socially inadvisable match, and Carrington leaves with just a note of explanation. Adrienne accepts a contract from vaudeville agent Manny Morrison to appear in an American music hall, but she fails because she appears in too much clothing. When Adrienne next performs at the roof top Follies in a scanty costume, Carrington's father Michael, a self-made wealthy man, insists on an introduction. After Michael learns about the European episode, he and Adrienne, to upset Carrington, pretend to marry. Carrington pursues them on their "honeymoon." After overhearing their plotting, Carrington convinces his friend's wife to pose as his fiancée. When his friend objects to Carrington's vigorous lovemaking, Carrington finally gives up his desire for polish and admits that he wants only to marry Adrienne.
