Synopsis

After Canadian trapper Jules Le Clerq proposes to Adrienne Cabot, she tells him that some time ago her uncle sold her to the outlaw Devil Cabot, to whom she was married but who died soon thereafter. Unconcerned about her past, Jules marries Adrienne, but then Cabot, who actually had not died, appears, overcomes Jules and carries off Adrienne. While a captive of Cabot's, Adrienne gives birth, and Cabot, enraged at having to care for Jules's new daughter, tries to kill the child. Adrienne attacks Cabot and, after apparently killing him with a poker, takes her baby and returns to Jules. Overcome by the trauma, however, Adrienne soon dies. Then, years later, Cabot appears again. He assaults the daughter, but Jules, this time leaving no doubt, finally kills him.

Notes

The title of the original story was "Hope Rides With Me." Reviews indicate that the scenario for this film was turned into a novel by Barbara Yechton (also known as Lyda Farrington Krause) but modern sources fail to confirm this.
