Synopsis

Following the demise of his father, John Wyncote, finding himself with a bankrupt business, instructs attorney Thornden to sell all interests. One of the depositors, Joseph Blanco, unable to face financial ruin, commits suicide, leaving a daughter, Belinda, and a son, Stefani. Stefani takes the Sicilian oath to avenge his father's death along with his sister; Belinda agrees to take an assumed name and make John fall in love with her and marry her. After the ceremony, aboard an ocean liner, she denounces him. The ship crashes onto a reef, and the crew is overpowered by rum-runners. Wyncote rescues Belinda from the drunken captain's advances, and they are reconciled after being saved by a U. S. destroyer.
