Synopsis

Bob and Grat Dalton are appointed deputies to replace their brother Frank, a U. S. Deputy Marshal who was killed rounding up outlaws, but resign when they learn of a higher-up's dishonesty. Because Bob uses a gun to retrieve the money he lost to a crooked gambler, the Daltons are labelled as crooks. Grat is wrongly accused of train robbery by an express company, and after his escape from prison, the brothers plan to get even with the company by actually robbing one of its trains. When Bob's sweetheart Eugenia Moore is killed trying to warn the Daltons of the sheriff's approach, Bob becomes hardened and plans a major bank raid in Coffeyville, Kansas. During the robbery, all of the Daltons are killed except Emmett, who is imprisoned for fifteen years and then released.
