Synopsis

To put her at a disadvantage, wealthy Mrs. Drummond hires postmaster's daughter Kitty Carstairs, to whom her son Colin is engaged, as a maid in her household. Simultaneously, Mrs. Drummond invites Lady Dorothy, a beautiful heiress, to visit, hoping to lure Colin away from Kitty. Made miserable, Kitty leaves the Drummonds and meets artist John Risk, a friend of theirs. With his assistance Kitty goes to London and becomes a model in a modiste shop. Drummond comes to his senses and breaks his engagement to Dorothy, but it is too late to make amends; Kitty and John have fallen in love.
