Synopsis

John Mentor, ostensibly a prominent business man, is really the head of a clever crime syndicate. When his daughter Madeleine discovers her father's real character, she severs all ties with him. The syndicate robs Harry Lyttle, a small town banker, by preying on his credulity and greed through a clairvoyant and a crooked handbook. Lyttle's losses lead to the bank's failure, transforming the love of his sweetheart into hate and contempt. Joining the syndicate, she avenges herself on Lyttle by making him a tool of the gangsters. Next, the syndicate attempts to blackmail a millionaire by framing him for a violation of the Mann Act. The syndicate signs its own death warrant when, unaware of her identity, they rob Mentor's daughter, who then helps government officials indict the gang.
