Synopsis
Betty Sherwin, who is left in the care of John Kenwood and his mother, is never told by her guardians that the gold mine she inherited from her father is worthless. A mining engineer named Fleming discovers that the mine contains a rich vein and he attempts to buy the property from Kenwood, who refuses to sell for sentimental reasons. Betty, ignorant that her lavish expenditures and tuition at boarding school are being subsidized by Kenwood through his own dwindling resources, is determined to repay him when he loses everything after a frost kills his orange crop, and she learns that she has been a financial burden. Betty goes to the mine and discovers the vein of gold which allows her to present Kenwood with both the gold and her heart.
