Synopsis

Adele Bleneau, who aides her famous wealthy father, a Louisiana surgeon, in his medical work, falls in love in Washington with British Captain Fraser. On Adele's ship to France where she accompanies her father as a Red Cross nurse, Count von Schulling of the German embassy, an acquaintance of her father, becomes attracted to her. After Adele organizes a rescue party to save the wounded Fraser, von Schulling is treated in her hospital and placed in the same room with Fraser. Adele arrives in time to save Fraser after von Schulling removes his bandages, but just then, the hospital is bombed and taken over by the Germans. Given the alternative of spying or seeing Fraser shot, Adele agrees to locate English cannons. She reports to the British commander, who arranges for obsolete cannons to be lost, while a successful counterattack is planned. Afterwards, Adele kills von Schulling when he attempts to assault her. After the armistice is signed, Fraser and Adele marry.
