Synopsis
Jim Brockton, a wealthy bachelor, is beloved by all. Jim is guardian to his profligate nephew Donald who has returned home from college for Christmas vacation. One night, Jim finds Donald and his callous friends baiting an unfortunate beggar, and feeling sorry for the man, takes him home and grooms him to be his secretary. A year later, Jim is married to Mary, a sweet young girl. Donald returns home from school again, and it is evident that Mary and Donald have met before. Suspecting that his wife and nephew are lovers, Jim orders them from the house on Christmas Eve, but his secretary prevents disaster when he forces Donald to recount his history with Mary. Years earlier, when the two were engaged, Donald tried to seduce Mary. Although Mary refused, Donald slandered her, causing her name to be dishonored. After learning the truth, Jim throws out his nephew and begs his wife's forgiveness.
