Synopsis

Dolly Lane, an aspiring actress, devotes herself completely to her career until she meets and falls in love with Steve Hunter. When Steve loses his fortune, the newly married couple moves in with a friend, Teddy Harrington. Then, on the same day that Steve's uncle dies, leaving him a fortune, Dolly is selected to take the place of a musical comedy star who has become ill. Later, however, despite Dolly's success, she accompanies Steve to the West at his insistence. She soon becomes bored with life as a farmer's wife, though, and accepts an offer to return to the stage made by Joe Canby. She becomes a star, but Canby tries to collect for his part in her success in her dressing room. Just as Steve returns East seeking a reconciliation with his wife, he overhears the scene between Canby and Dolly and throws Canby out. Steve then goes West again, but a repentant Dolly follows him and they resume their life together on the farm.
