Synopsis

On the United States-Canadian border, ten-year-old Jean Rivard finds a baby girl lying in the snow next to her dead mother and takes her to Baptiste Dupre and his wife. They adopt the baby and christen her Annette, and she and Jean become fast friends. After the death of his wife, Dupre sends Annette away to school and transforms his saloon, the Ace High, into a meeting place for rogues. Jack Keefe, a corrupt sheriff, becomes infatuated with Annette after viewing her photograph and attacks the coach in which she is returning home. Jean, now an officer in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, rescues Annette and brings her safely home. Against her father's wishes, Annette spurns Keefe, who, infuriated, abducts her. Jean again rescues Annette and restores her to her real father, who gives the young couple his blessing.
