Synopsis

Jeanne Mesurier, an orphaned heiress and ward of Madame Delore, rejects the latter's plan to marry her to impoverished Maurice Bresnault. Visiting the estate of Cecil Bourne, who is infatuated with her, Madame Delore and Major Forrest are in league to swindle the unwary at cards. Cecil aids Madame Delore in robbing Ronald Engleton, who is hidden in a smuggler's cave under the house. Meanwhile, Jeanne, who has fallen in love with Andrew, Bourne's brother, discovers the criminals at work and follows them to the cave, where she is locked in with Engleton. Finding an opening to the sea, she succeeds in swimming to Andrew's island. The conspirators are driven from the island, and Andrew claims Jeanne as his wife.
