Synopsis

Tim Sanborn and his daughter Alice are stranded on a tropical island, along with many trained animals, for 15 years. Their enchanted life is interrupted by wealthy young Bob Hamilton, "Red" Blake, a vicious brute, and Ulysses Abraham Washington, a Negro cook--all of whom are survivors of shipwreck. Tim disguises his daughter as a boy and introduces her as "Al." She is befriended by Bob, who tells her of the outside world, and when he learns "he" is actually a girl, he falls in love with her, saving her from the lustful glances of Blake. In a quarrel with Blake, Tim is killed. During a volcanic eruption, Ulysses engages in a fight with the villainous Blake, and both die in the molten lava; the lovers escape from the island and are rescued by a cruiser.
