Synopsis

The members of the once-famous and scrappy Battling Orioles baseball team are now rich, old, and grouchy and belong to the National Club. Their president, "Cappy" Wolfe, discovers barber Tommy Roosevelt Tucker to be a son of a former Oriole and invites him to come to the city and work in the club. Jubilant because his sweetheart, Hope Stanton, is also in the city, Tommy tries to cheer up the old fellows. He only incurs their wrath, but the group rises to the Battling Orioles tradition in order to help Tommy rescue Hope from her Uncle Sid Stanton, who is trying to involve her in a confidence scheme. The film "opens with some excellent comedy depicting base ball as it was played in 1870" (from Moving Picture News, 23 Aug 1924).
