Synopsis
Larry Thomas, a hick from the country, obtains a job as an office boy in the big-city firm owned by his father's friend Brooks. At the office, Larry is the butt of practical jokes until stenographer Ellen Holt takes pity on him. Under Ellen's tutelage, Larry rises to the position of member of the firm, attracting the attention of President Brooks, who decides that a marriage between his daughter Muriel and the boy would prove advantageous. Fearing that her own love for Larry would impede his career, Ellen announces that she is betrothed to a boy back home, and Muriel and Larry are engaged. However, Muriel is being blackmailed by Sid Wilson who demands $75,000 to remain silent about her drug arrest. In her father's office, Muriel and Wilson struggle over the money and Muriel is accidently shot and killed. When Larry, who had been working late, is accused of the crime, Ellen, who had also been working late, is persuaded to marry Larry in order to avoid testifying against him. All ends happily as the two lovers are wed and Wilson's confession exonerates Larry.
