Synopsis

Penelope Winthrop and her two young sisters are left penniless after their father's death. When Penelope discovers a letter written by her father implying that he was cheated out of his fortune by his mining partner, she decides to press a claim for the money with the crooked partner's nephew, Hugh Jordan. Hugh has recently inherited his uncle's money, but, drawn to the pretty Penelope, he allows her and her sisters to stay in his home during the investigation. Mrs. Beaumont, who wants Hugh for herself, plans with Larry Kendall to get rid of Penelope by telling her that she and Hugh are engaged. In love with Hugh and disappointed, Penelope is about to leave when Hugh offers to give her the fortune. She refuses the money, but accepts Hugh's offer of marriage.
