Synopsis
While ransacking Nan Baker's apartment, Jack Coley, a smalltime burglar, steals a briefcase belonging to Nan's boy friend, Alan Sheridan. The briefcase contains plans for a secret defense formula which Alan plans to sell to a foreign power, and his superiors warn Alan that if the papers are not recovered, he will have to face the consequences. When he fails to retrieve them, his superiors murder him and go after Jack. Realizing the true value of the papers and refusing to commit treason, Jack prepares for the attack and kills the two conspirators, though he himself is mortally wounded. Following his death, Nan returns the vital formulas to the proper authorities.
