Synopsis

As an orphan boy, Ed Harley is taken in and reared by Jim Mulford, rancher and banker; 8 years later Ed is foreman of Mulford's ranch and is indulged by him as a son. Ed is sent to San Francisco to manage the ranch of Henry Radigan, a grouchy old millionaire who resents Ed's youth and particularly his attempts to court his daughter, Lyra. Ed finally goes to the ranch, introduces himself as the new manager, and enforces his authority at the point of a gun; but Radigan reinstates the former manager and fires Ed, who has become popular with the crew. Radigan, however, is forced to call Ed back. Mulford dies and leaves his ranch to Ed, who resigns; and after numerous difficulties, Ed acquires both a loan from Radigan and the heart of his daughter.
