Synopsis

Rodeo chairman Alan Riggs prevents Dick Thurston, a champion broncobuster, from entering a rodeo by fabricating a rule that entrants must either own property in New Mexico or be employed on a ranch in the state, thus swindling Thurston out of $500 he has deposited to back up his skill. Riggs does not want to lose the large sum of money he has already bet on local champion Slim Garvey. Thurston gets a job on the Hollister ranch, thus becoming eligible for the rodeo. At Riggs's suggestion, Slim steals money Daisy Hollister has saved for renewal of her father's land-grazing lease, and, in a repeated effort to prevent Thurston from entering the rodeo, plants it in Thurston's room before alerting the sheriff. Thurston and his sidekick, Yea Bo, escape the sheriff in time to enter the race; Thurston wins the purse, recovers his money, and exposes Riggs and Slim as crooks.
