Synopsis
Believing that life in his Uncle Andrew's chewing gum factory in Jonesville is as drab as the wrapper encasing the product, Broadway Jones takes all the money he can get and leaves for Broadway where he is introduced to the high life by adman Robert Wallace. Broadway finally goes broke and resolves to recoup his finances by marrying Mrs. Gerard, a fat elderly widow with money. Meanwhile, Josie Richards, his uncle's secretary, comes to New York to find the prodigal when his uncle becomes ill. Broadway realizes that he is in love with Josie, but the presence of Mrs. Gerard drive the girl back to Jonesville. Just as Josie leaves, Broadway is notified that his uncle has died and left him the company. The gum trust offers him a million dollars to sell out, but Broadway returns to Jonesville and, concerned for the welfare of his employees, refuses the offer. He then convinces his valet to marry the rotund Mrs. Gerard and, thus disencumbered of his weighty load, Broadway proposes to Josie.
