Synopsis

While attending a party across the way from the Swazey house, man-about-town Peter Drake spies pretty Jackie Swazey sitting alone on her veranda. While crossing the street to make Jackie's acquaintance, Peter almost collides with Mrs. Swazey, a candidate for alderman running on the Prohibition ticket, who demands that peace be restored to the neighborhood. Peter wins Mrs. Swazey's favor by declaring himself a member of the anti-vice committee sent to keep watch on the party. Later, Peter is arrested for burglary when Pa Swazey, after a night of drinking, to save himself from the wrath of his wife, claims that he had been assaulted by the young man. Mrs. Swazey's opponent Clancy offers to bail Peter out of jail if he is able to eliminate Mrs. Swazey from the race by midnight. With the aid of Pa, Peter spikes the punch at Mrs. Swazey's "bone dry" reception, leading to a drunken melee which results in the prohibitionists striking Mrs. Swazey's name from the ticket. While Mrs. Swazey is sleeping off her inebriation, Peter and Jackie steal away to the marriage bureau.
