Synopsis

Katie O'Doone inherits her father's dilapidated Kentucky estate and a racehorse; she mortgages the estate and bets the money on her horse in a race. The jockey of Dennis Reilly, a wealthy turfman, rides his horse into Katie's, and it has to be shot as a result of the injury. Katie then meets Jake Trumbull, a generous but dishonest bookie, and he offers her a commission on all the bets she can get for him. Tod Cuyler, an unscrupulous turfman, conspires with Trumbull to bet on Reilly's horse, then substitute an almost identical horse in the race. Katie consents to spy on Reilly and soon falls in love with him; when she discovers that Reilly was innocent of any connection with the crooked race in which her horse was killed, she takes steps to assure that Reilly's horse will win the race. He persuades her to come back to him, as his wife.
